Weight Loss Hut is a UK membership programme for sustainable weight loss. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the service needs, we never sell your data, and nothing you tell us is ever shown publicly.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address (used to sign you in) and, if you add it, your name.
- Onboarding answers. Your confirmation that you are 18 or over, and optional answers about your goal, dietary preferences and activity level.
- One health question. During onboarding we ask whether you are currently taking a prescribed medicine to support your weight loss. Answering is optional, and "prefer not to say" is always available. Because this is health information, UK data protection law treats it as special-category data. We store your answer encrypted, we rely on your explicit consent to hold it, and you can change or remove it at any time from your account page.
- Assistant conversations. Messages you send to the AI assistant, kept so you can revisit your own conversations. Messages that suggest a safety concern may be reviewed by our team so we can respond responsibly.
- Marketing choice. Whether you have opted in to occasional email tips and updates. You can opt out at any time.
How we use it
We use your information to run your membership: signing you in, personalising the member tools, and answering your questions. If you opted in, we also send occasional emails. We do not sell or rent your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we never display it publicly or to other members.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies only: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a record of your cookie choice. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first through the cookie banner before any non-essential cookie is set.
Where your data lives
Your data is held in our application database and is not shared with third parties except the service providers who run our hosting, email delivery and AI assistant, each acting under contract on our instructions. Your answer to the health question is encrypted by the application before it is stored, so it is unreadable in database backups and consoles.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. You do not need to email us for the common cases: your account page has a one-click download of everything we hold about you, lets you change any answer, and can permanently delete your account and all of its data. If you believe we have mishandled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Retention
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. Deleting your account removes your profile, your answers and your assistant conversations permanently.
